Painting & Tiling

Interior and exterior painting, wall and floor tiling, and the preparation work that decides whether either of them lasts five years or fifteen.

Our position

Preparation is the job. Paint is the last day of it.

Most paint failures on South African houses are not paint failures at all. They are preparation failures that took two years to become visible.

Flaking on a north facing wall, bubbling above a damp course, hairline cracks that reopen a season later, and paint lifting off a parapet all trace back to the same thing: someone rolled new paint over a surface that was not ready for it.

We would rather spend an extra day scraping, filling, sealing and priming than come back in eighteen months to explain why a two coat exterior job is peeling. If a wall needs a crack repair, a damp problem investigated or a plaster patch before it is painted, we will tell you upfront and price it, even where that makes our quote look higher than the next one.

  • Surfaces scraped, sanded and washed down before anything is opened
  • Cracks cut out and filled properly rather than skimmed over
  • The correct primer for the substrate, every time
  • Dust sheets, masking and clean edges as standard
  • Reputable trade paint, and we tell you exactly which product goes on
  • The site left clean at the end of every day, not only at the end of the job
Scope

What we take on

Interior painting

Walls, ceilings, cornices, skirtings, doors and frames. Occupied homes handled room by room so you are never living in a building site.

Exterior painting

Plaster, face brick sealing, parapets, garden walls, fascia and barge boards, gutters and downpipes, steel gates and burglar bars.

Crack repair & preparation

Cutting out and filling structural hairline cracks, plaster patching, sealing and priming, and treating the surface properly before any topcoat.

Waterproofing touch points

Sealing around parapets, flashings and window reveals as part of an exterior repaint, so the new paint is not the only thing keeping water out.

Wall & floor tiling

Bathrooms, kitchens, patios and entrances. Correct adhesives, proper substrate preparation, level setting out and clean grout lines.

Tile repair & regrouting

Replacing cracked or drummy tiles, raking out and regrouting tired bathrooms, and resealing wet area junctions.

We are painters and tilers, not a general building contractor. Structural alterations, roof replacement, plumbing and electrical work fall outside what we take on, and we will tell you so rather than sub it out and take a margin on someone else’s work.
How we quote

Priced per project, in writing

Painting and tiling cannot honestly be priced off a website. Wall area, surface condition, access, the number of colours and the amount of preparation required all move the number, and so does what is behind the paint that is already there.

Send photos

WhatsApp us photographs of the rooms or the elevations, and tell us roughly what you have in mind.

We come and look

For anything beyond a single room we come to site. Photographs do not show damp, drummy plaster or a wall that is out of true.

Written quotation

An itemised quote setting out preparation, products, coats and the areas covered, so you can compare it properly against anyone else’s.

Agreed timeline

A start date, a realistic finish date and an agreed payment structure before anyone opens a tin.

Thinking about a repaint or a retile?

Send us photographs of what you have in mind and we will arrange a site visit and a written quotation.
